Privacy Policy for The Bathroom Game
Last updated: July 28, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how your information is collected, used, and shared when you use our website (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways to provide and improve our Service:
A. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
This information is stored directly in your browser's localStorage
and is never sent to our servers. We cannot access this data.
- Game Statistics: We store your personal game statistics, such as the number of games played, win percentage, and current/max streaks.
- Daily Progress: We store which urinal you selected for the day's puzzle and whether it was the winning choice. This allows the game to show you the results when you return.
- User Preferences: We store your preferred theme (light or dark mode) and whether you have seen the "How to Play" tutorial.
B. Anonymized Information We Collect
This information is collected anonymously and is not tied to any personal identifiers.
- Vote Data: When you vote, we record your choice anonymously in our Google Firebase database. This data is aggregated with all other votes to calculate the percentages for each urinal.
- Country-Level Data: We use a third-party service (ipapi.co) to determine your country from your IP address. We then anonymously record your vote against your country code in our database. This allows us to create an aggregated, country-based leaderboard. We do not store your IP address.
C. Information Collected by Third Parties
- Google AdSense: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites. Depending on your location, you may see a consent message to manage ad preferences. You can learn more about how Google uses this data and how to opt out by visiting Google's Ads Policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain our Service.
- To calculate and display anonymous, aggregated voting results and leaderboards.
- To personalize your experience by remembering your preferences.
- To display advertisements that help support the operational costs of the Service.
3. Data Security
We use industry-standard services like Google Firebase to store and protect aggregated data. However, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
4. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
